I am applying for that storyboard internship with Nickelodeon, so I am doing a sequence with the BQ cast. Still have a lot of work to do, though.

As you are probably painfully aware, Bandit’s Quest just sort of stopped updating. It sucks that it happened, but it was frankly too much of a drain on me and my other webcomic. That does not mean I am washing my hands of Bandit’s Quest though. No, far from. I want to continue Bandit’s Quest, but I want to allocate the time and resources to it.A lot of what I am about to mention has occurred through discussions with a couple of my chums, Reed and Phil. In their own ways they’ve really helped me hone in on what I want to see happen with the project.
BQ is a hell of a fun project, and it caught on quickly. I just was unable to continue with it do to nature of it being based on reader feedback. It really was an experiment to begin, but behind the scenes I’ve done a LOT of world-building, and I feel that the original format is just not conducive to the world BQ occupies.
So here and now, I want to announce that I am going to be switching gears and prepping Bandit’s Quest as a pitch for an ongoing comic-book or mini-series. Ideally, with BQ being picked up through a publisher I’ll have the resources to do the comic. Part of the reason for the desire to do is as a comic book is overall dearth of videogame comic books out there. Sure, you have Archie’s Megaman and Sonic series, but they don’t feel like comic forms of videogames. Bandit’s Quest is all about using those game tropes and visuals, and the pitch will readily reflect that. Things like covers being parodies of famous videogame box art, or sprite-based headers on every page that show the character’s “progress” through the story, rather than just page numbers are just some of the elements being worked in.
So, Bandit’s Quest is still being worked on. I’ve talked to an artist about finishing up the current comic storyline as well, so that is possibly coming up.
Ultimately, the tumblr and the site are probably going to have their focus shifted to the development of the BQ universe. I have a lot of finished designs already, and I plan on posting them soon. I am particularly proud of some of the generic “baddies” of the game world. The “bosses” are pretty awesome too.
As for the pitch process, I do have a working script for a pitch down, and I am having some people go over it for feedback. I plan on having Reed, who has become a bit of a co-writer, try to add a few more jokes here and there. We’ll be looking into any possible scenario for publication, and no-matter what, we will be making the finished pitch comic available to read. I have considered a Kickstarter, but I will be thinking that one through very, very carefully, as I want to get the shit together before committing to anything like that.
So, that’s where we’re at. BQ is going to be pitched as a comic book in the future. The site/tumblr will end up reconfigured as well to emphasize more of a “development blog,” concerning the pitch process.
Thanks for reading!

Been a while, hasn’t it? The image above comes from Hawk.
Things got crazy. Unfortunately, Bandit’s Quest is still on a hiatus. The project isn’t dead, by a long shot, as there has been talk of a game (seriously!), and I am still working on it. I am just not able to draw any pages. Basically, between my pursuit of my Bachelors, and Cosmic Dash, Bandit’s Quest has to fall to the wayside.
However!
I am still keen on writing Bandit’s Quest, I just need someone else to take up the art duties. If anyone is interested, you only need to e-mail (hpkomic@gmail.com) me about it. BQ has a pretty solid fanbase already, so you’d be able to use that to your advantage if you’re so inclined.
So, Bandit’s Quest is resting up a little bit, but if anyone wants to help out, you’d be welcome, and probably praised by those who are REALLY mad at me for letting this one take a break.
So please, tumblr peeps, reblog this. I’d be great to find someone willing to lend a hand.

Act 1 – 011 – “The Flying Lizard.”

>Ask salesman about his shirt.
You could have sworn his shirt was orange, but it seems it’s been blue all day! How strange.
He tries to sell you a frozen banana, but you don’t want to risk your companion having any. Chocolate is dangerous for his kind! You’re not sure about the bananas, but why test fate?
The salesman directs you to a rather rough looking bar. Hopefully you will-
WHAT THE?

I’ve been so out of it I forgot to post this one. Previous post is the latest update.

Act 1 – 012 – “A Lizard, an Orc, and an Owlbear walk into a bar…”

>Check on flying lizard.
He expresses he is feeling great. You are unnerved by this notion considering he just flew through a bar window.
He gets up, and is addressed by a rather tough looking pair consisting of an orc and an owlbear.
You hate owlbears.
The lizard recruits you into his party! How did that happen?
